The client approached Lisa J Stevens and Associates to review their manual handling and ergonomic practice within a specialist laboratory facility.  On this occasion, our consultants visited the site to observe all the activities undertaken within the facility, taking photographs and videos of various tasks to understand and measure the range of movement and force required in many of the manual handling tasks.  

The client was provided with a full report highlighting areas of concern and practical approaches to reduce the incidence of manual handling injuries.

Our client contacted Lisa J Stevens and Associates to provide assistance and advice regarding the development of a new science precinct at an Independent School. The client was requiring an expert opinion relating to the application of AS/NZS 2982 Laboratory Design and Construction and AS/NZS 2243.2 Safety in Laboratories - Chemical Aspects and Storage, as they apply to secondary schools.  

Lisa J Stevens and Associates spent several weeks reviewing detailed architectural drawings, meeting with the architects and associated construction specialists, and working through the requirements set down by the educational institute and the requirements of the WHS Act 2022 (WA) and the relevant Australian Standards.  Lisa J Stevens and Associates provided detailed advice, which allowed the architects to ensure that their client's needs and the applicable regulatory requirements were met. 

Lisa J Stevens and Associates were approached by the client seeking short-term on-site assistance to fill a vacancy during COVID-19.  During that period, Lisa J Stevens and Associates were able to assist the client by ensuring:

• Day-to-day activities were undertaken (e.g. accident investigation, worksite inspections)
• The OHS Committee members were supported at its meetings with sound OHS Advice
• Supporting Area Supervisors in proactive OHS actions
• The required OHS documentation had been updated and was available for the next round of Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation audits and inspections.  

Lisa J Stevens and Associate ensured that the handover to the incoming OHS Manager was seamless and continued to be available to support the incoming Manager as required. 

The client approached Lisa J Stevens and Associates to undertake a laboratory safety audit against AS/NZS2243 Safety in Laboratories Series and AS/NZS2982 Laboratory design and construction. After a detailed review of the laboratory's policies and procedures, our consultant undertook a two-day physical inspection of the laboratory environment and spoke with staff about their roles, activities within the laboratory, and issues they encountered while carrying out their daily routines. 

The client was presented with a detailed report that identified areas where they met or exceeded the requirements according to the Australian Standards, as well as areas where improvement was needed.
