PAST PROJECTS

ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENT - Research Facility (Vic) - Lisa J Stevens and Associates was approached to review their manual handling and ergonomic practices within a specialist laboratory facility.

On this occasion, our consultants visited the site to observe all activities undertaken within the facility, taking photographs and videos of various tasks to understand and measure the range of movement and force required for many manual handling tasks.

The client was provided with a full report highlighting areas of concern and practical approaches to reduce the incidence of manual handling injuries.

LABORATORY DESIGN ADVICE - Secondary School (WA) -  Lisa J Stevens and Associates was engaged by the client to review and advise on the development of a new science precinct at an Independent School. The client required an expert opinion on the application of AS/NZS 2982 Laboratory Design and Construction and AS/NZS 2243.2 Safety in Laboratories - Chemical Aspects and Storage, as they apply to secondary schools.

Lisa J Stevens and Associates spent several weeks reviewing detailed architectural drawings, meeting with the architects and associated construction specialists, and working through the requirements set by the educational institute, the WHS Act 2022 (WA), AS 2982 Laboratory Design and Construction, AS/NZS 2243 Safety in Laboratories Series and the National Construction Code.

Lisa J Stevens and Associates are regularly engaged by architects, designers and educational institutes to review laboratory design plans.

EMBEDDED ASSISTANCE - Healthcare Facility (VIC)  Lisa J Stevens and Associates were approached by the client seeking short-term on-site assistance to fill a vacancy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

During that period, Lisa J Stevens and Associates were able to assist the client by ensuring:

  • Day-to-day activities were undertaken (e.g. accident investigation, worksite inspections)
  • The OHS Committee members were supported at their meetings with sound OHS Advice
  • Supporting Area Supervisors in proactive OHS actions
  • The required OHS documentation had been updated and was available for the next round of Australian Health Service Safety and Quality Accreditation audits and inspections.

Lisa J Stevens and Associates ensured that the handover to the incoming OHS Manager was seamless and remained available to support the incoming Manager as required.  This is not the first time Lisa J Stevens and Associates has provided on-site support to organisations seeking short-term OHS assistance.

LABORATORY AUDIT - Major Hazard Facility (QLD) - The client approached Lisa J Stevens and Associates to undertake a laboratory safety audit against AS/NZS 2243 Safety in Laboratories Series and AS/NZS 2982 Laboratory design and construction.

The client approached Lisa J Stevens and Associates to undertake a laboratory safety audit against AS/NZS 2243 Safety in Laboratories Series and AS/NZS 2982 Laboratory design and construction. After a detailed review of the laboratory's policies and procedures, our consultant conducted a two-day physical inspection of the laboratory environment and spoke with staff about their roles, activities, and the issues they encountered in their daily routines.

The client was presented with a detailed report that identified areas where they met or exceeded the requirements according to the Australian Standards, as well as areas where improvement was needed. Lisa J Stevens and Associates regularly travel across Australia and New Zealand to assist organisations and undertake laboratory safety audits
